Treat the key as a private secret

Use the recovery-key controls in Coldbore’s iCloud Backup screen. A key is sensitive information and does not itself contain the collection.

Preserve the matching recovery information

  1. Identify the backup and key you intend to preserve.
  2. Use the app’s recovery-key option and complete any device authentication it requests.
  3. Keep the key in a private place you can access when the device is unavailable.
  4. Label it as a Coldbore key without adding it to a public collection report.
  5. Review your recovery plan when changing devices or accounts.

Know which process uses the key

You should know where the key is kept and which recovery process uses it. Do not send it to support.

Keep legacy phrases separate

A Coldbore 1.0 phrase only reads legacy snapshots. A different key or Apple Account recovery key is not an interchangeable substitute.

Keep the connected record.

Coldbore keeps firearm identity, photos, documents, maintenance, and range sessions together on your iPhone or iPad.

Unlimited records, ordinary reports, exports, iCloud Backup, and app lock stay free. Collection Check, Collection Pack, Renewals, and Costs and history need optional membership.

Get Coldbore free
