Label the recovery purpose

A stored secret needs a clear label and a private location. Do not include either kind of key in an ordinary collection report, shared photo, or support message.

Legacy phrases have their own scope

A Coldbore 1.0 recovery phrase stays on the device where it was set or entered and only reads legacy snapshots. New Coldbore backups use the newer backup key. A legacy phrase is not a substitute for every recovery process.

Use the requested key

Read the exact prompt during recovery. Verify the intended account and recovery point before entering a key. The provider cannot read your private backup or retrieve the secret for you.
