Identify the document’s subject

Check the document’s subject, date, and source. A file name alone may not identify the right firearm.

Save the title, file, and item link

  1. Open the firearm’s dossier.
  2. Choose Link a document and select the relevant document type.
  3. Give it a descriptive title. Add the file if available.
  4. Record dates from the source, then check the firearm link before saving.
  5. Open the saved entry to confirm the attachment is readable.

Open the linked source

The document should appear with the intended firearm. Its title should tell you what it is without opening every file.

Explain a document with several items

If the source covers several items, explain that scope in the document record. Do not imply that the file independently confirms facts it does not contain.
